Simon Kverndal QC

Simon, who was serving as Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights, was well-known to many members as a prominent advocate and arbitrator in both “wet“ and “dry“ matters. But he was perhaps best known for his energy and his irrepressible sense of fun.

Few people enjoyed life – and made it enjoyable for those around them – as did Simon. With interests ranging from (of course) the law to real tennis, wine, music and his club (the Garrick), Simon was, as one friend has written, a “well-rounded man“. “Irreplaceable“ another has said and (from a third friend) “supremely generous, kind, hospitable, intelligent, knowledgeable and ready to help others at any time”.

One word that has appeared repeatedly in tributes to him is “lovely”.

He will be sorely missed by many.
