The Association is sad to report that Tony Scott, a longstanding Full Member of the LMAA, passed away on 5th May 2015.
His family write:
ANTHONY GRAHAM SCOTT – 26th March 1933 to 5th May 2015
After a long, brave and stubborn fight against cancer, Tony passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday 5th May, at Creek House in the presence of his family.
He was truly a Commercial Man, with a career spanning nearly 50 years; originally with Louis Dreyfus and Co in London from 1953 to 1963, and then at European Grain where he remained as a Director until his retirement in 1992.
Tony had been Arbitrating since 1967 and during his career he had issued over 3000 Awards.
Highlights of his career include the following achievements:
GAFTA - Honorary Member of GAFTA and PRESIDENT of GAFTA from 1990-91
He had been part of the GAFTA Council, Contracts Committee, Grain Standards Committee, Arbitration/Appeals Committee and on the Arbitrator/Appeal Board from 1963 to 2003
FOSFA  – Honorary Life Vice President 
He had been part of the Contracts Committee, Oilseeds Committee, Soyabean Standards Committee Chairman, Arbitration Committee Chairman, African Groundnut Council and Arbitrator/Appeal Board from 1971 to 2008
He was elected as a Member of the Baltic Exchange in 1974
Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators 1977
Chairman, North American Shippers Association 1979
American Arbitration Association 1983
LMAA – Tony had been a full Member of the London Maritime Arbitration Association since 1986
A Freeman of the City of London since 1999 and became a Member of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators in 2000
He lectured at the City of London College – Grain Trade from 1963 to 1976 and continued for GAFTA from 1976 to 2000 and FOSFA from 1977 to 2008
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday 10th June 2015 at St Mary Le Bow Church, Cheapside, London, EC2V 6AU at 11 am.
